Kendall "Da Spyder" Grove continued his attempt to re-establish himself as a middleweight to be reckoned with by beating another grizzled veteran on Saturday. Grove dominated positions on the ground to earn a unanimous decision against popular Japanese fighter Ikuhisa Minowa in the main event of ProElite 3 in Honolulu. With the result against Minowa, following a victory over Joe Riggs in August, Grove has won consecutive bouts for the first time in almost three years.
After a loss to Roy Nelson at UFC 137, his third consecutive defeat, 37-year-old Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic announced his retirement from MMA. Though we will never see Filipovic inside the Octagon again, it has been confirmed that Filipovic will compete one final time. Through his Twitter account, Ray Sefo confirmed that he would serve as Filipovic's final opponent in a K-1 rules fight.

In less than nine days, middleweight contenders Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping will go to war to decide who will be the next person to challenge Anderson Silva for the title. At the beginning of the week, both Sonnen and Bisping had different opponents for the event as Sonnen was set to face Mark Munoz and Bisping was matched up with jiu-jitsu master Demain Maia. One person who has had plenty of time to study the ways of Michael Bisping was Maia himself and he told ESPN.com that Sonnen should not underestimate the Briton as he is a force to be reckoned with.
